Spike2 is generally used as a chart recorder for continuous data recording. It can also be configured to record triggered output or evoked response data. Applications range from neuroscience, cardiovascular and physiological studies, through to engineering applications.
Spike2 captures event and waveform data to hard disk with simultaneous output of control pulses, steps, ramps, sinewaves and arbitrary waveforms. A flexible analysis environment allows multiple windows for both raw and processed data, with simultaneous data acquisition and analysis. Waveform processing options include feature detection with automated measurements, averages, power spectra and digital filtering. Spike processing options include on and off-line spike shape recognition, INTH, PSTH, RATE histograms, correlations and also off-line clustering with principal component analysis.
The script language allows you to customise the program for specialist applications, and to automate complicated or repetitive tasks. Spike2 version 9 requires Windows 7, 8 or Windows 10 and supports 64-bit versions. See the compatibility table.

Signal version 6 for Windows more details
Signal can be thought of as an intelligent storage oscilloscope, gathering data in sweeps at high speed for analysis. Applications range from field potentials to auditory and visual studies, ERG, patch and voltage clamping, TMS, rTMS, EMG, force platforms and vibration monitoring.
Signal provides fast, sweep-based data capture and analysis with up to 48 channels and aggregate sampling rates up to 3 MHz using the latest Power1401-3, or 500 kHz with the Micro3. You can sample a very large number of data points in each sweep; at least 15 million with a Power1401, depending on Windows memory. Free running, post and peri-triggered sweep modes are available with automatic pulse output generation and sequencing. Pulse, sine and arbitrary waveform output can be generated and displayed while sampling.
Incoming data can be displayed, measured, reviewed and compared with previously recorded data. Built-in analyses include single-channel analysis, patch clamp, waveform averaging, spectral analysis, measurement generation, sum area and gradient, generation of data by applying your own equations to existing channels, and digital filtering.
The built-in script language allows complicated or repetitive tasks to be automated as well as customising the system for specialist applications. Signal version 6 requires Windows XP SP2 or later. See the compatibility table.

Academic customers who need to run more than one copy of CED application software can purchase additional licences at a fraction of the current software list price. The additional licensed copies are expected to be used on the same site and in the same building/laboratory and by people working in the same group.
When you upgrade software for which you have licensed copies, a charge of a fraction of the single copy upgrade fee would be made for each extra licensed copy. All the copies should be upgraded together.

CED, through this site, does two things that relate to privacy. We would like to explain them.
We offer free down-loads of many files on our site, from test programs to complete install files for updated versions of major packages like Spike2 and Signal.
When customers wish to take a down-load of a major package, we ask a few questions, including their name, email address, the serial number of the software for which they seek an upgrade and whether they would like an automatic email whenever we update the product. This information is emailed back to CED when they access the final down-load screen. Within this email, your browser transmits the type and version of browser you are using, and the screen resolution you are running.
The reasons why we take and keep this information are that it is useful for our software development team to know who has taken the latest versions, and it is useful for our web site development team to know which browsers people are using to view our site, and what resolution they have their screens set to.
When people down-load a major package, we try to write a cookie, a small file in your computer, that records your name, serial number of the software package, and the version you are down-loading. These files have a lifetime of one year.
The reasons for storing this information are firstly that if you ask for another down-load some other time, your details are read from the cookie and are pre-written into the form, to save you looking them up again. The other reason is that next time you access our site, your browser looks through your CED cookies and compares the versions down-loaded with the latest version numbers read from our site. If there is a later version of a product you have already down-loaded, we tell you on the home page screen, so you know that it is worth going to the down-load page again.
