CED 4904 Initial Setup

The CED 4904 is supplied with a PP3 battery fitted internally but left disconnected for transit. To connect the battery, unscrew the 4 screws in the base of the case using a #1 Pozidrive screwdriver. Lift the bottom cover off and place to one side. Remove the battery and dispose of the protective cover on its terminals.
 
After checking that the slide switch on the side of the case is in the off position (towards the top of the case), lift the battery connector out on its wires and connect it firmly to the PP3 battery. The connector will fit only in one orientation. Carefully replace the connected battery in the case, routing the wires around the plastic pillars in the case so that they do not foul the base cover being re-fitted. It is a tight fit.
 
Before re-fitting the base cover, rotate the CED 4904 so that it is face-up, and slide the power switch towards the centre of the case. Push the ON pushbutton and check for a flash on the green LED adjacent to the button. The LED will flash briefly every 7 seconds or so in normal operation. If no flash is observed, check the battery state and connections. If all appears correct, continue, else contact CED for advice.
 
Assuming the LED flash is normal, switch off again using the slide switch and turn the CED 4904 over. Fit the base cover, checking that the battery wires are not trapped between the mating faces of the support pillars. Replace the 4 fixing screws and lightly tighten them. The CED 4904 is now ready for use.
